Summertime Wellness Tips

Summertime is finally in full swing. Days are long and filled with unexpected adventures and challenges. This month, I want to emphasize the importance of self-care through the wild, crazy, intense and challenging times that we may all find ourselves in.

Chaos and change are inevitable. Staying nourished and healthy supports the energy that is required to say calm and centered. Engaging in activities that relieve stress are good, and this month I would also like to point out the significance of a healthy diet.

Food doesn't just affect digestion and circulation. It affects our hormone levels, mood, and energy. Foods high in salt and sugar can cause energy and mood levels to spike and then crash. Leafy greens are alkalizing and anti-inflammatory. Vegetables in the brassica family are jam-packed with anti-oxidants. They are great immune system boosters and help the body detoxify and temper oils and fats in the body. Fruits, such as watermelon are great for dehydration. Let this month be a month of self-care and self-reflection. What foods help you feel your best? What foods support your physical as well as emotional health? Cultivating wellness through all the different kinds of weather puts us all on the track towards a great day and a healthy life.
